100 Years of Bollywood: Final Part

Hi :)

This is the last part of celebrating 100 years of Bollywood - here are some of my favourite songs from the 80s to date. Hope you like them as much as I do :)

Ek Hasina Thi - Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle

Magical haunting tune

Mere Angne Mein - Amitabh Bachchan

This song had 2 versions, one sung by Alka Yagnik - probably her first bollywood song, and this one by Amitabh Bachchan. Love it for its picturization and puns.

Sheesha Ho Ya Dil Ho - Lata Mangeshkar

Nice tune

Jaane Kaise Kab Kahan Iqrar - Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar

Lovely song, picturized in Ooty

My Name is Lakhan - Mohammad Aziz, Anuradha Paudwal, Nitin Mukesh

The song that first featured the 'Anil Kapoor step'

Jab Hum Jawaan Honge - Lata Mangeshkar and Shabbir Kumar

Beautiful song from the superhit debut movie of Sunny Deol and Amrita Singh

Aa Dekhe Zara - Kishore Kumar & Asha Bhosle

Superhit from the debut movie of Sanjay Dutt and Shakti Kapoor who compete against each other in a dance competition in this song

Gajab ka Hai Din - Alka Yagnik

Juhi's Debut and Aamir's second movie - a super duper hit featuring many beautiful songs

Aap ke Aa Jaane Se - Mohd. Aziz and Sadhna Sargam

Before the hit dancing jodi of Govinda and Karisma in mid 90s, Neelam and Govinda rocked our world in the 80s

I am a Disco Dancer - Vijay Benedict

Mithun and Bappi Da created magic in this movie

Hanste Hanste - Sadhna Sargam and Nitin Mukesh

A beautiful simple song

Dil Deewana - Lata Mangeshkar

Debut of Prem :) (Salman Khan) and Bhagyashree, love all the songs!

Tere Mere Honthon Pe - Lata Mangeshkar and Babla Mehta

One of the most beautiful songs ever! Possibly the first Yash Raj movie where Switzerland took the place of Kashmir due to militancy

Dheere Dheere Se - Anuradha Paudwal and Kumar Sanu

Sun raha hai na tu Aashique ke music ke muqable Aashique2 kuch bhi nahi hai :)

Aisi Deewangi - Alka Yagnik and Vinod Rathod

One of the many hits of Deewana. Shahrukh Khan's debut, also starring Divya Bharti in a Hindi movie for the first time and not to forget the aging superstar at that time - Rishi Kapoor

Is Pyar se Meri Taraf na Dekho - Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik

Cute song from a cute movie

Is Jahaan ki Nahi Hai Tumhari Aankhein - Nitin Mukesh and Lata Mangeshkar

Sweet melodious song

Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye - Lata Mangeshkar

I have spent so many many hours of my life dancing on this song. Love this movie and its songs. Never saw it in a cinema hall, hope I get to see it someday.

Yeh Haseen Wadiya - SP Balasubramaniam and Chithra

Parts of this movie were shot very close to my house at that time, somehow I never went to see the shooting because it was a Tamil movie. It was later dubbed in Hindi and I loved it so much! It also introduced AR Rahman to Bollywood. Roja and Bombay are his finest works till date as per me

Kehna Hi Kya - Chithra

Another movie dubbed in Hindi, with stellar performances by Manisha Koirala and Arvind Swamy!

Paani Paani Re - Lata Mangeshkar

A hauntingly sad song

Saaton Janam Tujhko Paate - Kumar Sanu

A song featuring Karisma and Govinda and woven around the real couples of Bollywood

Jadoo hai Tera hi Jadoo - Alka Yagnik and Kumar Sanu

A nice number from the movie Ghulam

Pyar Kar - Udit Narayan and Lata Mangeshkar

The highlights of this movie among other things is the dance-off between Madhuri and Karisma. I don't think there is any heroine in Bollywood at present who can match upto these 2 in dancing

Aate Jaate Jo Milta Hai - Alka Yagnik and Sonu Nigam

Sweet melodious song

Humko Humise Chura Lo - Lata Mangeshkar and Udit Narayan

A melodious song

Ek Din Aap Humko Yun Mil Jayenge - Alka Yagnik and Kumar Sanu

Simple and sweet song

Suraj Hua Madham - Alka Yagnik & Udit Narayan

A beautiful song

Tum Dil ki Dhadkan Mein - Abhijeet and Alka Yagnik

Dhadkan was a hit movie and the music even a bigger hit!

Main Yahaan Hoon - Udit Narayan

Love this song

O Humdum Suniyo Re - KK, Pravin Mani, Shaan, Kunal Ganjawala, Srinivas

Saathiya was a super hit and its music too. I remember hearing Saathiya songs being played everyday and every hour for atleast a year on Radio Mirchi.

Achi Lagti Ho - Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan

Lovely melody

Khuda Hafiz - Lucky Ali, Sunitha Sarathy, Karthik

One of the tracks from Mani Ratnam's Yuva

Pehli Nazar Mein - Atif Aslam

One of the best songs sung by Atif Aslam

Nice haunting tune

Masakali -Mohit Chauhan

Playful song

Tum Ho - Kavita Krishnamurthy and Mohit Chauhan

Lovely song

Jiya Tu Bihar Ke Lala - Manoj Tiwari

A different movie and different music to suit it perfectly!

Bheegi Si Bhaagi Si - Antara Mitra and Mohit Chauhan

Lovely song especially for rainy mornings

Tum Hi Ho Bandhu - Neeraj Sridhar & Kavita Seth

Who would have thought that Tum Hi Ho Bandhu Sakha Tum Hi could ever be sung in a manner different from what we spent singing in school assemblies :)

Pareshan - Shalmali Kholgade

Interesting twist of rock and vocals

Yun Hi Re - Anirudh and Swetha Mohan

Lovely romantic number

Badtameez Dil - Benny Dayal

From Dil Deewana to Badtameez Dil, Bollywood sure has come a long way!
